How it works

Diary Bookings

Bar Select hosts the market leading LEX diary management system and exclusively offers clients an online directory of availability and booking process. This is how the service will operate:

  • As a registered member of Bar Select you will have your own diary (at no time does the client have direct access to your diary) and be able to complete your own profile information. You, or your clerk, can enter your availability for advocacy and papers. If you are an existing LEX user (and as at September 2010 over 70 chambers are) then your chambers-based diary can be synchronised automatically with your Bar Select diary;
  • The prospective client completes a booking enquiry form giving details of the case and proposed fees;
  • The client can then choose to place the booking form on the Public List (which only barrister members can view) and wait for proposals;
  • The client can also choose to search Bar Select based on standard criteria such as practice area, seniority and geography, select one or more barristers from the search results and send them the booking form;
  • On receipt of a booking form you, or your clerk, can review the booking form, make a conflict check and then decline, ask questions of the client about the case, or submit a quote;
  • The client ultimately selects a barrister to book and the chosen barrister must then confirm the booking after which an entry is made in the barrister's Bar Select diary;
  • The client is thereafter notified of all subsequent entries in the diary for that case

LEX Users - your options will include:

  • Run your Bar Select diary independently, entering only availability (or for all your diary needs whether Bar Select generated or from other sources);
  • Bookings made in Bar Select can be set up to email you and/or your Clerk for manual entry in LEX; or
  • Synchronise your Bar Select diary with your Chambers diary so that they are the same

Meridian/Inquisita Users - your options will include:

  • Log in to the Bar Select diary to set up availability;
  • Bookings made in Bar Select can be set up to email you and/or Clerk for manual entry in Meridian/Inquisita

Case Record

Once a case has been booked you and your client will be able to make use of Case Record which provides a secure medium through which you and your client may, if you both choose, manage all your communications and documents related to the case. To find out more visit www.gotocaserecord.com
