On 21st July the Bar Council published an article on its web site and by email entitled 'Kickback Requests' concerning an unnamed online service that some were led to believe referred to Bar Select. Bar Select is NOT the service referred to and this has been acknowledged by the Bar Council in writing to the BSB.
In fact, Bar Select is, as far as we know, the only service of its kind that has been approved by the BSB Standards Committee.
Until the Bar Council tell us all who they were referring to, barristers and their chambers will have to exercise caution when dealing with any other service offering to provide work for payment that may lead to breach of rule 307(e).
Value Added
